The dim interior of a traditional Singaporean hawker center sits in the quiet moments before sunrise, illuminated by the warm glow of overhead fluorescent tubes reflecting off polished stainless steel surfaces. A vendor stands behind a cluttered stainless steel counter, arranging ingredients near a large aluminum steamer basket that emits faint wisps of steam into the cool air.
