Before the sun rises over the red city, a vendor stands in the narrow, shadowed alley of the Souk Semmarine, surrounded by stacks of colorful woolen scarves and folded blankets. He holds a pair of heavy-duty garden shears in one hand while adjusting a hanging display of patterned fabrics with the other. The air is cool and still, with faint light filtering through the high openings above the covered market stalls. Nearby, wooden crates hold additional goods, and a simple brush with splayed bristles rests on a nearby ledge, used for cleaning the textiles. The quiet preparation of daily commerce in Marrakech, with vibrant colors contrasting against the muted pre-dawn tones of the stone architecture.
