Basketball at Afternoon Light

Sunlight spills across a weathered concrete balcony in Phuket, illuminating a cluster of daily life objects. A faded blue plastic drying rack leans against cracked painted stucco walls, its surface peeling to reveal layers of older lime wash. Resting on the rack is a single leather basketball, scuffed and dusty, catching the harsh afternoon glare. Below, a rusted metal hinge screws hold a shutter slightly ajar, admitting a sliver of bright green tropical foliage. A porcelain jar sits nearby, filled with dried hibiscus stems, its glaze chipped at the rim.
