Ballet Dancer in Wings Before Dawn at Isfahan Harbor

Pale silver light spills across the wet stone edge of an Isfahan harbor, illuminating a ballet dancer poised en pointe in the wings. The dancer wears a simple, floor-length skirt and a fitted bodice, standing with one foot lifted and toes pointed against the damp pavement. Behind the figure, the calm water reflects the clearing sky where storm clouds have receded to the horizon. Early spring moisture glistens on the rough masonry of the harbor wall. One wooden crate rests nearby, its surface scarred by salt and age. The dancer's shadow stretches long and sharp across the wet ground, ending at the edge of a dark, empty boat moored in the still water.
