Sunlight slants across a wrought-iron balcony railing in the Vieux Nice district, casting sharp geometric shadows on the warm, ochre stucco wall behind it. A vibrant cluster of magenta bougainvillea spills over the edge, its papery bracts glowing against the deep green foliage and the aged metalwork. Below, a narrow cobblestone alleyway recedes into the distance, flanked by shuttered windows and faded blue paint. A simple wooden drying rack stands empty against the wall, catching the late afternoon light, while a pair of well-worn leather sandals rests casually near the threshold. The quiet, lived-in texture of the old town, where history and daily life intersect in the warm, golden hour glow.
