First light after rain washes the narrow street of Santa Teresa in a cool, diffuse gray, reflecting off the wet cobblestones and the slick black asphalt. A young woman in a sharp, tailored charcoal suit strides past a weathered colonial facade, her heels clicking against the stone. She pauses to adjust a vibrant red potted geranium perched on a rusted iron balcony railing above her, the bloom against the damp, mossy stone. Raindrops rest on the leaves, catching the pale morning glow.
