Flat noon light bleaches the white stucco of a Barcelona balcony, creating a stark contrast with the deep blue of a wrought-iron railing. A cluster of terracotta pots containing vibrant red geraniums sits on the stone ledge, their leaves sharp against the bright sky. Below, a wooden door frame shows darkened grain from years of sun and rain. A simple metal gate handle, worn smooth by countless hands, catches a glint of harsh sunlight.
