The sky deepens into a bruised purple over the Auckland waterfront as the Sky Tower and Harbour Bridge begin to glow with electric lights. Rain slicks the cobblestone pavement in the foreground, reflecting the neon signage of nearby cafes and the headlights of passing cars. A tramcar passes in the mid-ground, its form distorted and doubled in the puddles on the ground. Pedestrians with umbrellas hurry along the sidewalk, their figures blurred by motion. The wet, urban energy of a New Zealand evening, with the iconic skyline standing tall against the fading natural light.
