Early morning sunlight strikes the reinforced concrete levee path in Bilbao, casting long shadows across the wet surface where floodwaters recently receded. In the middle distance, a massive cargo ship sits low on the horizon of the Nervión River, its hull reflecting the pale dawn sky. Along the base of the retaining wall, patches of faded paint flecks rest on the rough concrete, remnants of past maintenance or local art. A woman in a vibrant 1970s-style coat walks along the path, her figure silhouetted against the brightening water. The industrial texture of the port city at dawn, blending the sturdy infrastructure with the quiet movement of the early commuter.
