Arranging Stools in Lisbon
by Juan Burks
First light after rain washes the tiled facade of a traditional pastel building in Lisbon, turning the wet pavement into a mirror for the soft morning sky. A local vendor adjusts a stack of white plastic folding stools near a corner shop, their bright color against the deep blue azulejos. Beside the entrance, a terracotta plant pot holds a small fern, its fronds dripping with residual droplets that catch the diffuse light.
