Arranging Bread in Vienna
The late summer sun casts long, amber shadows across the cobblestones of a narrow Vienna alleyway, illuminating a small, open bakery window where glossy enamel surfaces of stacked metal trays catch the light. Inside the warm glow, a baker’s hands, blurred by motion, arrange loaves of crusty bread next to a row of colorful spice jars on a stainless steel counter, while a black cat sleeps peacefully on a drying towel draped over a chair nearby. Outside, the street is quiet, with only the faint reflection of a passing tram visible in the glass, and a woven basket sits on the sidewalk, filled with fresh baguettes, inviting passersby to pause.
