Amber Glow on Carved Dragon Pillar in Port Said Temple
by Emily Pierce
Rich amber sunlight from the setting sun floods the interior of a stone temple in Port Said, illuminating a massive pillar carved with a spiraling dragon. The stone surface displays deep grooves and raised scales that catch the low-angle golden light, creating sharp highlights along the creature's spine and shadowed recesses in its claws. Autumn leaves drift through the open doorway, their orange and brown hues mirroring the warm tones of the illumination. The floor reflects the pillar's base in a muted, shimmering sheen, at the base of the vertical structure in the quiet nave. Every curve of the stone carving is defined by the directional glow, showing the texture of the aged masonry against the dark interior shadows. One crack in the lower stone catches a glint of the fading day.
