A narrow stone-paved alley in Kyoto glows under the amber hue of a single streetlamp late at night. An orange cat crouches beside a weathered stone wash basin, its paws resting near darkened tile grout stained by years of water runoff. The cat’s eyes reflect the dim light as it watches a nearby doorway. Inside the partially open sliding door, a wooden table holds a porcelain tea cup with faint tea stains and a folded paper fan resting beside it. The quiet solitude of a residential backstreet, where traditional architecture meets the subtle presence of local wildlife in the cool night air.
