Alleyway at Noon Light in in Busan, South Korea

Alleyway at Noon Light

by Ross Carrillo

A street-level view shows a narrow Busan alleyway where winter noon light cuts sharply across damp concrete. In the foreground, a plastic dish rack leans against a tiled wall, holding a single metal bowl and a bristle brush, evidence of recent washing. Above, a simple wire drying rack spans the gap between buildings, holding a few faded dried flower stems that hang limp in the cold air. A baker in a white apron stands in the doorway of a small bakery further down, adjusting a glass display case filled with steamed buns.
